America’s Biggest Birthday Bash – July 4th Holiday Weekend Recommendations
We’ve pulled together key information to help you prepare for the 4th of July Holiday Weekend (2019).
First off, we’ll be open for the entire holiday weekend at both of our locations - downtown STL and St. Charles. We do recommend booking online ahead of the holiday weekend. We typically fill up on regular weekends at our downtown location so the holidays can be even more in demand.
Our first recommendation focuses on downtown St. Louis. We’re located right across from the Gateway Arch National Park where Fair St. Louis is happening in 2019. Fair St. Louis is also referred to as America’s Biggest Birthday Bash.
Remember you can stay cool and dry at Top Notch and we’re ideally located to take in the fireworks and festivities.
Fair St. Louis (downtown) - America’s Biggest Birthday Bash
Fair St. Louis is America’s Biggest Birthday Bash in the downtown area. There are plenty of activities to participate in and we've chosen a few highlights:
July 4th
7:30 am - America’s Birthday Race - What a great way to kick off the day and all the other activities. Run!
9:30 am - 137th America’s Birthday Parade - Complete with marching bands, floats and larger than life character balloons.
12:30 pm & 5:00 pm Boeing Air Show - You can check out the planes and stay cool inside Top Notch. The aerobatic performers fly down the river just beyond our doors.
Evening - Randy Houser and Brett Young - Houser and Young are performing on the main stage. Maybe they’ll stop by Top Notch like Brett Eldrige (we hope so!).
9:35 pm - Fireworks - You will certainly enjoy the fireworks while throwing axes. You can book before or after the fireworks, just remember our last booking time is 10:15 pm.
July 5th
5:00 pm - Boeing Air Show - You can check out the planes and stay cool inside Top Notch. The aerobatic performers fly down the river just beyond our doors.
Evening - Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat - Gill and Sweat perform on the main stage. Again, we love when performers stop in Top Notch but we would also like to see you and your friends before the show!
9:35 pm - Fireworks - You can certainly enjoy glimpses of the fireworks while throwing axes.
July 6th
12:30 pm & 5:00 pm - Boeing Air Show - You can check out the planes and stay cool inside Top Notch while throwing axes. The aerobatic performers fly down the river just beyond our doors.
4:30 pm - Salute the Troops - Honor and celebrate over 300 local service men and women.
Evening - Vertical Horizon and The Flaming Lips perform on the main stage.
9:35 pm - Fireworks - You can enjoy the fireworks while throwing axes or throw axes then walk across the street to focus on the fireworks. Just remember, our last booking is at 10:15.
O’Fallon’s Heritage and Freedom Fest
Our final recommendation is The Heritage and Freedom Fest. This is a local festival with plenty of activities for all ages. Everything is free and there is a focus on family activities and local entertainment.
Most of the activities, including the firework, are centered at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex. For more information check here.
Top Notch is a short 15-minute drive away. We recommend throwing axes in the afternoon and evening, then enjoying the festival and fireworks. Kids age 8 and older are welcome to throw axes and ninja stars.
July 2
4:00- 10:00 pm - Family Night - Carnival rides, the midway and vendors will be open.
July 3
4:00 pm - Festival opens - Vendors and live entertainment.
10:15 pm - Fireworks
July 4
9:30 pm - Parade - Heritage & Freedom Fest Parade
12:00 pm - Festival opens - Vendors and live entertainment.
9:30 pm - Fireworks - Happy 4th!
As you can see, there’s so much going on over the holiday weekend. We hope you can enjoy axe throwing and everything our local area has to offer for the celebration of our great country!
Remember, we do recommend booking online ahead of the holiday weekend. We typically fill up on regular weekends at our downtown location so the holidays can be even more in demand.
St. Charles Riverfest
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to flooding, the St. Charles Riverfest has been postponed until August 2019. See the news article here.
Our next recommendation is St. Charles Riverfest. This festival has all the charm and excitement expected from a riverside town. Frontier Park is the home of all the activities ranging from live music to craft and food vendors.
Top Notch is just a short drive away so throw axes then take in the local live music. Or stop at the festival and bring some food over to Top Notch.
